Black Models Speak

Black Models Speak was founded by Kiara Ailene in response to the deep lack of unity within the Black model community. After being told at castings, “Don’t stand too close to the other Black models—there’s only one spot for Blacks,” she recognized the systemic barriers designed to divide and silence.

This intentional separation has allowed the fashion industry to exploit, underpay, and disrespect Black models without consequence. Because when the community is divided, no one wins.

Black Models Speak exists to change that.

We are a safe space for Black models to speak openly, connect deeply, and stand united. We elevate conversations around discrimination and embedded racism in fashion, foster collaboration between Black models and other creatives, and uplift brands that champion true inclusivity.

Together, we’re not just speaking — we’re building a movement.

Black Models Teach -

Black Models Teach is a model panel focused on educating aspiring models about the fashion industry and how to navigate successfully as a black model.

Black Models Meet -

Black Models Meet was created to bring models together in community. Models are usually put against each other in competition for jobs, agencies, and money. Our goal is to change the narrative and bring models together to support and uplift each other. We are stronger together than apart.

Black Creatives Meet -

Black Creatives Meet is centered the black creative community that keeps the models busy! This event was dedicated to networking with other creatives which included hair & makeup artists, photographers, stylists, set designers etc.
